How can drinking more water help you lose weight? Many Americans are not only overweight, they are also dehydrated. We all know that we should be drinking at least eight 8 ounce glasses of water a day for good health, but how many of us actually do this? When we're dehydrated we're not only missing out on the cleansing benefits of water, we're also missing out on water's natural hunger suppressing benefits, making us feel hungry when we don't need to be. Water is a natural appetite suppressant, meaning that drinking water temporary fools and tricks your body into thinking that you are full, making you less hungry, eat less food, and therefore lose weight.

Don't Eat When You're Thirsty

Do you ever feel like you could just keep eating and eating and never seem to feel "full"? Many people mistake feelings of thirst for feeling hungry. When their body tells them they're thirsty, they try to quench their thirst by eating more. But eating more won't make your thirst go away, so the urge to eat remains. Worse still, some people realize they're thirsty, but instead of drinking water they reach for caffeine and sugar filled drinks like soda and coffee that will only dehydrate them more and not take away their thirst, either.

Eating or drinking caffeine when you're really thirsty is the most unnecessary way to gain weight. By drinking more water, you can easily lose a few pounds without even changing the way you eat. Drink a glass of water instead the next time you feel like you should be full but want to eat everything in your kitchen pantry or refrigerator. You will be surprised at how good a glass of water is at making your hunger disappear!

Water not only suppresses our hunger and helps us eat less, it also stops us from drinking other high calorie drinks we don't really need. If you want to lose weight and commit yourself to drinking eight glasses of water a day, you won't have the time or the urge to drink as much Coke, juice and coffee drinks as you did before.

Water is one of the best natural appetite suppressants, but water has other fat burning and weight loss benefits. Water is a cleaning agent in and outside of the human body. Drinking water cleans our kidneys and helps them in good function. Good kidneys lead to a healthy liver, and a healthy liver can burn fat a lot faster and better than an unhealthy one. Drinking less water means you are putting more stress on your kidneys and your liver. If you drink enough water, your liver will be able to burn more fat and cause less fat to accumulate and be stored in your body, making it easier to lose weight.

As you can see, drinking more water will not only suppress your appetite, it will also help your body's organs function better, causing you to burn fat faster and also improve your overall health. Drinking water is not the same as taking a "water pill"! There is no reason to waste your money and compromise your health when drinking water is the cheapest and easiest weight loss tool out there.
